Must do something about my apartment

In thinking about fixing up my apartment, I have been looking through a lot of decor magazines and websites. This living room's color palette is pleasing to me, but I would need to darken it so as to hide the dirt. Also, with two kids and a husband, forget about a white couch, much as I would love one. The curtains would likely work in my own apartment.
