I love this kitchen fix. It's easy and attractive — not to mention inexpensive. Should I try this at home? Or in the (still to be) Pennsylvania retreat?

Though the second is more your taste and esthetic, the first is more doable in your place, particularly when you consider the costs. I think you could do something like the first but more elegant.
